Programme online! Autonomy and digitalisation: NCE-CEC Symposium on 15 June 2018
28.03.2018
2018 symposium: Autonomy and digitalisation: a new chapter in self-determination in medicine? | 15 June 2018, Bern
This year’s symposium on autonomy held by the National Advisory Commission on Biomedical Ethics (NCE) and the Central Ethics Committee (CEC) of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) will be devoted to issues around digitalisation: Who bears responsibility for handling digitised patient data? What is the impact of digital approaches on healthcare professionals’ understanding of their role? Will the doctor-patient relationship change? To what extent is digitalisation shaping what it means to be healthy or ill?
The symposium will provide a platform for in-depth discussion of the social, ethical and legal questions relating to digitalised medicine. Case studies and panel discussions with the speakers will enable theoretical input to be closely tied in with the challenges faced in everyday medical practice.
