New CNE opinion paper on the medical treatment for minors with gender dysphoria

The National Advisory Commission on Biomedical Ethics (NCE) has published the opinion paper no. 43/2024 «Medical treatment for minors with gender dysphoria – Ethical and legal considerations». Treatment decisions in the context of gender dysphoria involve complex trade-offs and require a careful risk-benefit analysis in each individual case. The NCE also considers adequate training and regular continuing education for all professionals involved in the treatment, as well as close interdisciplinary cooperation between the disciplines involved, to be indispensable to ensure high-quality, evidence-based and non-discriminatory care for individuals affected by gender dysphoria.
